Some words from James:
- Seniors merit dignity and respect.
- Enhance and increase Nevada Medicaid and Nevada Check Up benefits.
- Affordable and attainable housing is one of my top priorities. Our economy cannot continue to prosper if we do not address the shortage of attainable and affordable housing in Clark County.
- Improve public transportation and our road system. Our streets and freeways have become deadly and are choked with traffic.
- I voted to raise the homestead exemption to help people protect their homes from the debts that can arise from an unexpected emergency.
- Nevada has some of the most pristine and undeveloped wilderness in the world and we must work to protect these natural treasures.
- Violence in the home doesn?t just scar the victim but also scars the entire family for generations. Nevada must have the strongest domestic violence laws in the country. We need to do more to protect battered women and children.
- I know this district, I have represented you at the Nevada Legislature, and I understand the legislative process.
- I earned my degree in economics from the UNLV College of Business and I am currently attending the William S. Boyd School of Law. I was a member of Teamsters Local 631 for over 6 years.
- I encourage the Bureau of Land Management to quickly process the many recent solar power site applications here in Southern Nevada. I will also be working with our utility regulators and my fellow legislators to ensure that any solar power generated will be economically transmitted through the power grid without obstacles.
- We have to wean ourselves off our dependence on the volatile foreign oil market. This will help us save money at the gas pump as well as protect the environment. I plan to introduce two bills which will make it cheaper for people to own and operate fuel efficient hybrid vehicles.
- The state needs to offer some relief to families facing foreclosure of their home. People need to be able to get the medical treatment and the medications they need and we need our faith restored in the doctors, nurses, and hospitals that treat us.
- Thank you for the hundreds of surveys that you mailed back to me this spring. As I walk door to door and talk to my neighbors, it?s plain to see that we?re all struggling to keep gas in our cars, a roof over our heads, and food on the table, while still trying to pay for our prescriptions. There are no easy answers. Hopefully the economy will start to improve. Regardless of what happens nationally, the next Session of the Nevada Legislature will be critical for our future.
- I?m proud of the legislation I sponsored and passed last session that protects patients? rights and workers? rights. It?s truly been an honor getting to serve the people of the State of Nevada. I hope you?ll trust me with your vote.
